Nigel Petersen AKA Lil Legin (Born 4/8/1999) started his career in the music world at the age of 7. The song “I’m an Angel” raised eyebrows at the Allen Houston’s “Father Knows Best Retreat”. Nigel was taken under the wing of Ron Alexander in 2011. Lil Legin has appeared on “The Ron Alexander Show” multiple times. In 2011, Ron Alexander allowed him to shoot his first music video “I Do It Good” which has more than 75,000 views on Youtube. His dad, Gary Petersen, became his manager after Ron Alexander.
Lil Legin has performed in many places. One was at the Paradise Theatre in the Bronx, where he was introduced and put on the stage by Dj Red Alert and Marley Marl. He also met Grand Master Melly Mel and Dj Cool Herc whom, which considered by Lil Legin, as an honor to meet and to perform for. Lil Legin also appeared and performed at the Apollo Theater and won first place on amatuer night at the age of 12. He has also performed at Lincoln Center and at the NY State Building in Harlem.
Lil Legin also performed on the behalf of Gun Down Life Up multiple times , where he continues to spread a message of non-violence and peace in our community. He also performed at an event called Stop the Violence in 2013 and 2014 as he give back to his community. Finished his current music video “I’m So Raw” and his EP called JumpStart which was released on Wednesday 1/28/15.
In the summer of 2015, Lil Legin released a video with one of the artist of New Bronx City, D.O.T., called “City Love”, and performed the song on the Ruff Ryder float in Harlem, and won the contest for the best performance. Lil Legin also performed at the Harlem Lanes Unsigned Music Awards in Yonkers, NY. He also performed in the First International Music Festival in the Bronx, and he also performed in the Unsigned Artist Extravaganza in BB Kings in Times Square New York on August 22, 2015.
Lil Legin got nominated in the Underground Music Awards for “Most Promising Artist” in 2015. He also did an interview on the LDM Show on January 14 of 2016 and on February 14, Lil Legin dropped another video called “You and Me”. On March 19, Lil Legin performed at the First Annual Bronx Unsigned Artist Awards where he accepted the “Rising Star” award.
March 26 , 2016 Lil legin released his mixtape “Legindary” and had a release celebration the night of release hosted by LaRue, B.U.R.N U Movement and 4 All Ages Entertainment. April 1st he had a Mixtape release showcase where there were performances for Lord OBG, D.O.T., Kaos, Nymrod, and other artist. Lil Legin had the pleasure of blessing the stage at the Peace Cafe and the harlem stage. Lin-Manuel Miranda, the writer of Hamilton, got to see Lil Legin up close as
he was chosen to perform on broadway out of everyone in his High School. This was captured by the New York Times, News 12 the Bronx and other news stations.
Lil Legin has been doing various festivals and performance around New York City throughout summer 2017. He has performed at the State Building in Harlem, at Marcus Garvey Park, Guns Down Life Up Events, and many more venues. His focus has mainly been on working on his next prospect that is projected to be be released 2018.
At the beginning of 2018, Lil Legin shot and released his video and his highly anticipated single “Checkmate” in with currently has more than 20,000 views on YouTube.
In 2018, he released his single Idol featuring Diverse Character. This song currently has more than 15,000 plays currently on Spotify and on SoundCloud.
During the Summer of 2018 and even after, Lil Legin has performed in various festivals and concerts honing and developing his craft.
He also has been in the studio creating music to release for the future.
In June 2018 Lil Legin performed at the festival in Juneteenth in Englewood, New Jersey.
He had also performed in the Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. , 7th Annual Literacy and Health Fair.
In July 2018, He performed on the behalf of Guns Down Life Up at Lincoln Hospital.
He made an appearance and performed at SOB’s in November 2018 where he electrified the stage.
With his experience and his energy, Lil Legin has become a phenomenal performer and can entertain any crowd from small to big.
